Miele Induction Cooktop Review – Is This Really The Best Cooktop?

Apr 20, 2012  |  Induction Cooktop Reviews, Main Menu  |  2 Comments

Today we’re going to be reviewing the Miele induction cooktop. The review is specifically for the 30″ induction cooktop, but it is also available in the 36′” but it’s quite a bit more expensive. You can read about the 36″ cooktop here at Amazon. But onto is our most recommended  30″ cooktop and for good reasons!

 Who Makes This Cooktop?

Miele via Amazon

Miele is probably one of the leading manufacturers in home appliances. They are a German company who uses the latest German design and technology. Actually, most Europeans are quite familiar with induction cooking and most new homes come with an induction cooktop.

 What Are The Features?

  • 4 burners with 17 power levels– There are 2 8″ burners. The smallest burner is 7 inches and the largest burner is 11 inches. The maximum heating capacity is 3,850 watts or 27,00 BTU when you have the booster function on. It gives you an incredible amount of control with the 17 different power levels.
  • Auto-Heat and Booster Function – This is one of my favorite benefits, which saves me a lot of time. The auto heat basically pre-heats the cookware, and then returns to your selected setting. I use this feature when I need to boil water quickly so that I can cook pasta. The booster function also temporarily increases the power setting for 10 minutes without needing to change your settings.
  • Child Safety Lock –pretty straight forward child safety lock, which can be used when the cooktop is on or off.
  • Overheating Protection – If the induction coils become too hot within the cooktop, it will automatically turn off. The most common reason for overheating is inadequate ventilation on the underside of the appliance or heating an empty pan.

What Are The Unique Benefits? Why It’s The Best Induction Cooktop?

  1. Most advanced system – The Miele Induction cooktop uses the 4th generation technology where most induction cooktop is currently using 3rd generation.   The difference between the 3rd and 4th generation is the assembly of the parts within the cooktop, which makes it more efficient.
  2. Design and placement of burners – Most cooktops have their burners laid out parallel to each other, which can be problem when cooking with much larger cookware. I hate it when I can’t fit one of my pans on the back burner because there’s not enough room. With the Miele cooktop, the burners are placed diagonally of each other, which provide more room. This will allow you to have full use of all your burners at once.
  3. Awesome Guarantee – I haven’t read many other companies that provide a no lemon guarantee.  It just shows that this company really stands behind their product and have no problem sending in a replacement if your product has been serviced more than three times.

Any tips or advice?

When you first use this induction cooktop, you want to heat it up a bit before cooking. There is a protective coating, which might give off a slight odor the first time. Don’t worry, it’s normal.

How We Rank It?

The reason why we give it a 5 stars is that Miele is one of the best major appliance manufacturers. From my experience and others’ experiences, they really provide a great product, which is backed by a great guarantee. Also they use the latest generation in terms of the hardware within the cooktop along with just overall great German design.
